Culinary Arts Oct/Nov Article

In the month of October, students learned a wide variety of new culinary skills and techniques. They are now proficient with knife skills and most cooking methods, such as sauteing, roasting and poaching. Students learned about more advanced baking methods, and prepared carrot cake, mixed berry tarts, chocolate cake and blueberry coulis cupcakes. They also learned how to cook with vegetables, including recipes such as yam hash, onion rings, zucchini fries, and veggie flatbread. Currently, students are learning how to cook with chicken - today they made chicken fried rice, typically a class favorite. 85% of our students passed the food sanitation exam.
