Computer Information Systems Oct/Nov Article

In October CIS year 1 spent a day helping Fourth Graders from Tri-County Christian School build robots.  It was a great experience for both the HS Juniors and TCC Fourth Graders.  The Fourth Graders were so happy at how nice the students were to them and are looking forward to coming to CareerTEC and learning how to program robots.  In November CIS 1 will be spending allot of time troubleshooting systems.  CIS 2 students have been going over copper and fiber optic cable types, and how to use troubleshooting tools at the Physical Layer of the OSI model.  In addition, they have begun programming switches.  They have learned how to do basic configure, reset, and recovery procedures on them.  In November they will be setting up small networks and getting familiar with IP configuration files on both Windows and Linux systems.  Routers are up next.
